Vegas and Camping....

Now how do those two things go together? The only way I can think of is if that's the two things I've done since my last post.

I went to Vegas with my mom to a Administrative Professionals conference and had a great time. The conference was amazing with Elizabeth Edwards as one of our keynote speakers. I missed the kids and Mark terribly though. My mom made a small donation to the slot machines. We also went and saw Cirque du Solei's Ka. It was truly amazing!

Home for 4 days and off to camping in Big Sur for the Bi-Yearly camping trip with our dear friends the Wilsons.
We had SOOOO much fun! We used our new tent, and it was really great.

Ryleigh had a little spill on her scooter, or was it her bike, and bandaging had to happen, and happen fast.....no Dora bandaids in sight, so I made due with what I had:

Tuesday in the night it started raining and we got 1/2 inch of rain. While it was awesome to hear pitter pattering on our tent, poor Austin was getting a little wet.

Wednesday morning we all woke up and started drying things out. We had a great day just hanging around camp and taking a nice long walk. Clear skies for all of Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday dawned bright and sunshiney and a visit from my mom and her friend, Wendy was planned. Austin was practicing riding his bike a lot. In our town, it is very hilly, and riding bikes just well, sucks. The flat campground provided much needed practice grounds for young balancing acts.

Crawdad caching ensued with Gramma yelling and screaming about them pinching Austin. Mark was a master catcher, and Austin did a lot of spotting.

After Gramma and Wendy left, I took Austin to the big flat parking spot for some bribery and bike riding. Soon, he was taking off his training wheels and riding like the wind! See for yourself:

Thursday night, well Friday morning it started raining around 5am and didn't stop until that evening around 8pm. It rained an inch of rain in that time, and our campsight had water running throught it at a high rate of speed, it was going under our tent, down a little slope and then under Mike and Julie's tent. We bailed and came home for that night and then returned Friday morning. I was thankful. There is NO WAY that Ryleigh would have lasted in that tent all day long in the wet. Plus, there was no way to exit our tent, as the water was 5 inches deep in some places.

The rest of our trip was great, and we came home today, exhausted.....
