Last weekend Ryleigh and I travelled north to celebrate Baby Kate's 6 month birthday. It was so fun having a "all girls" weekend with just Ryleigh. We both missed Austin and Mark, but enjoyed our time together! We went to the Sacramento Zoo and loved the animals! Baby Kate had 1/2 of a chocolate/orange cake, and Ryleigh sang happy birthday to her! Ryleigh enjoyed trying out all the baby equipment (funny how she never liked the saucer when we got home from China, but enjoyed it now).

Talking and Gymnastics
On Wednesday, Ryleigh started out the day with her first speech therapy appointment with Miss Amanda for speech therapy. In the afternoon, it was off to gymnastics. Ryleigh loved gymnastics and can't wait to go back. I never thought I would have a little girl to put in pony tails and a gymnastics outfit, it was so cute watching her running around and enjoying all of the different things to do!
Last summer we had a gas fireplace installed (where our wood burning stove used to be) and the job was never finished. While waiting for the installer to come back we quickly realized that if we ran the fireplace, our house would probably burn down because our mantle was a beautiful wood that my grandmother installed when she built the house. After much deliberation and stone matching we decided to go for it and change the mantle to stone and we think our decision was right on. Our living room looks great...now on to new carpeting.
We have Poppy and Darth (I call him Goliath). Goliath is a BIG fish, with a big brain! BUT, he likes to swim upside down. I think he is gassy. He's lucky he hasn't been flushed yet. He especially likes to hang out in the corner by the filter, which is especially suspicious and makes you think he's dead. He is goofy, and has the most kissable lips. Poppy, while pretty, is a true survivor. She has had three "boyfriends".
Cooking
I've been finding myself cooking, a lot. I've really enjoyed the pressure cooker cookbook that I have been working my way through. The latest thing that I have made is a cheesecake. It was so yummy, and only took 15 minutes.
On Head Wounds
Now, on to today. Ryleigh and Austin were playing with the giant yoga ball. Ryleigh grabbed it, yelled "I've got it!" took off running. The ball hit the ground, bounced her back, and she hit her head on the chair. My mom was right there, and provided instant hugs until I could get there. I took over, put my hand to her head and came away with a big sticky hand of blood. In seeing the blood, Austin took off running screaming "DAD, Ryleigh's going to DIE!!!!" I actually remained calm, but boy do tiny splits in the scalp bleed a lot. I went by the "if it's still bleeding at 20 minutes go to the ER" (that is a rule isn't it?). It stopped bleeding and now Ryleigh is sitting watching NiHao Kai-Lan, her favorite new show!! Whew, ER avoided!

I sure enjoyed catching up on the latest. Ryleigh sure looks like she's enjoying the gynmastics! How fun! And what a family scare...sounds like Austin was shaken up too! Argh....good for you for remaining calm. My heart sped up just wondering if I could handle it if it were Kate's head bleeding. Yikes! Good work Mamma!
I love the 20 minute rule. We had similar rules like that when I worked in daycare. Heads do bleed a lot. Glad she was okay!
Hooray, fun update!! Glad you had a great weekend. The gymnastics looks so cool. We were just trying to find one in our area for the girls (well to be honest I *was* looking about an hour ago and then got distracted and forgot, so thanks for the reminder, hehe.)
Me? Bleeding on the head...I'm haulin' off to the ER!
Of course it all depends how much blood.
Glad to hear she is fine.
NiHao Kai-Lan is one of our new favs too!!!
Great update guys!
