Ryleigh has been talking for a couple months about wanting earrings. I'm NOT a earrings look cute on tiny girls type of person, but the more I thought about it, the more I was leaning towards getting them. We noticed little girls all over the place that has earrings. The only thing really holding Ryleigh back was the thought of the pain involved.
One of the reasons that made the most sense to me was the fact that she is old enough to "know" that it's going to hurt and make a decision, and she is also young enough that she isn't in organized sports yet. Most of the "injuries" I heard about with earrings had to do with sports.
I would ask "You want to go get your ears pierced?" and she'd say "Yes, but it will hurt". So, we watched a couple of youtube video's of little girls getting theirs done and she decided she wanted to.
Today was the big day. She was so funny and brave. She never cried until she was all the way done and I said "You look worried, you can cry if you want to"...and she let go with the sobs for a couple of minutes.
She is very proud of herself for going through with it and they are really cute tiny little pinkish diamonds.

She looks like such a big girl in that first photo(sniff).
I didn't weigh in on the whole "should she get her ears pierced" discussion because frankly it's your daughter and your life and you need to do what it right for you(which you did).
I think they look beautiful and she was so brave!
Wow! Teen pregnancy and tatoos? That's weird! I've never heard that.
I'm in the "no" camp but only because I don't see the need to decorate my kid for my own gratification. But when she's able to tell me that she WANTS those holes in her ears and understands that it's going to hurt, I'm totally enthusiastic about getting it done! I think Maddy is getting close but Gwen might never get it done. She just doesn't care about such things.
My son had his ear pierced at age 6. He begged for the better part of a year and I finally told him that we'd do it if he made honor roll. He did so I held up my end of the deal!
He's almost 21 now and has no tatoos.

Hi Old Friend!
She's such a big girl. She's brave, beautiful and I think she will be confident. That's what's important. I'd never mix tatoos with earrings. I don't see any negative coming out of this one.
People just kill me.LOL
