NCCCW Meeting minus 3 Members

Today was the first annual luncheon of the NCCCW (Northern California coalition of Cool Women (who happen to have met through adoption)).

I left home for San Jose around 8 and arrived at Mary-Mia's house 9:30ish, and after some nice chatting with Rod about tuba's and contact lenses, we were off to Babies R Us for some retail therapy....the best part was when Mary-Mia just HAD to try on a snugli baby carrier. We disrobed the plastic mannequin and got it on her, then the funniest part was trying to get it back on this slippery fake-man. It was hysterical! People were watching us, I'm sure and laughing!! We found some great things, a portable potty that folds up for those times on the road when you just can't wait!

After a while at BRU, we were off to PF Changs in Downtown San Jose. Rhonda arrived first, and it was so AMAZING to meet someone you feel like you've been through so much with, but haven't met face to face. Like old friends, but you don't recognize eachother! It is Rhonda's birthday, and we hope she had a good one with us. Kelly arrived next, she is the mother of Helen, wife of Chris. Helen came home from Hubei 5 months ago, and has been our visual inspiration during these long months of waiting!

Three hours, two appetizers, four entrees and two desserts (see the Great Wall of Chocolate in front of us) and lots of talking and laughing later, we said goodbye.

I hope we get together real soon with our other NCCCW members: Melanie, Anna, and Donna!!!! (who by the way are on their way home from China with their daughters TODAY!).

Looks like a great get together. It is so much fun meeting other adoptive parents. I know that I really enjoy my dates with the other Moms!

This was so much fun -- it's not every day you do a 3-hour lunch and feel like you could stay for dinner!

The Great Wall of Chocolate - ha!!! I love it. That thing was enormous wasn't it? Can you imagine if we'd each ordered one?

It was so great to get together, what a perfect way to spend the day. Can't wait to do it again. Oh, and this time, I'll be ready for that mannequin - that slippery fellow will not get the best of me a second time! :-)

See you soon.

Man...how fun!! I always say that a side benefit to our adoption is all of the wonderful friends that we have made. I love the name of your group :)

I'll bet you had a terrific time! It makes me wish I lived near you so I could play too.
