Catching up....

Wow, it seems like forever since I actually posted a real post and not just pictures. I always think "Oh, I should write on the blog about this or that" but just never seem to have the time.

OK, so Sunday is Mother's Day, I got a shiny new green Weber bbq grill. I love it! I'm so thankful for it! I love to grill and I can't wait to try some new recipes that a regular Target type bbq grill had to offer. I Freecycled my old one and hope the person that picked it up enjoys it! If you are not a member of your local Freecycle, PLEASE join it. You can give and get a bunch of different things that you might just throw away...or have sitting around that someone out there wants!

TV:

The Office: This was my favorite show this season and last night was the last show. It was so GREAT! I cannot wait until the next season begins. I wish there was no such thing as a "season" in TV. It's just not FAIR to leave us hanging with such a wonderful cliffhanger ending....will Pam leave that louse of a fiance for Jim??? PLEASE!!!! (If you didn't watch this show, and watched CSI instead, try to catch the reruns this summer, it is really fun!)

Survivor: Terry IS the ULTIMATE survivor, he better win on Sunday or that will be IT for me with Survivor. No one has played the game better.

Texas Ranch House: This is an 8 hour series on PBS where they take people and have them live like it was in 1867, only they didn't count on the bitchy ranch wife, Lisa Cooke, to not give up her 2006 womanhood. Her husband Bill Cooke was so hen pecked by her that the cowboys never had a chance to form a rapport with him. The cowboys worked their buns off in the saddle and all ended up quitting. The ranch was evaluated to fail, and that it should with Mrs. Cooke at the helm. She was so lazy, and would build up her husband to get her to do what she wanted....."My husband is so AWESOME, now go out there and tell them to ride for 12 hours a day while I sit here on my duff". I could go on an on.....

Scrapbooking: Been working on Ryleigh's baby book, but have decided that scrapbooking is not for me anymore. I will finish Ryleigh's book and will continue with the kids school albums, but will use Shuttefly for bound photo books from now on.

Ryleigh's Lifebook: I found a great resource in a book by Beth O'Malley called Lifebooks "Creating a treasure for the adopted child". The interesting thing is that the example for a Chinese Adoption is a little girl who was adopted from the same small orphanage as Ryleigh. I'm going to work on it right away.

Hairbows: Been selling a few, thank you to everyone who purchased some!!

Basically I've been keeping busy with the children and having a bunch of fun. I've been walking between 1 and 2 miles a day either with my mom, or Austin, or my neighbor Melanie and her daughter Madelyn. We've been having some great walks, and it feels great to not be huffing and puffing when I come up the hill from town!!

Ryleigh continues to flourish. She is so physically advanced it's scary. She can walk up and down slides, she can do what 3 year olds do. She is a daredevil.

Austin is having his Kindergarten placement test in a couple weeks. It's some ridiculous little test so that the local elementary school can place the kids so that not all the "good" kids get into one teachers class, it is more evened out. He is very excited for Kindergarten AND his birthday which is the 23rd of this month!!

All the people waiting for referrals, you are in my thoughts constantly, just know (and I know this doesn't help) but the pain of waiting DOES go away after you have your baby in your arms, honestly.....hang in there. Your time is coming!!

I have been visiting your blog for some time and have really enjoyed reading about your family. Ryleigh is a sweetie and is changing so fast! It's great to see how these children just flourish once they are home with their families.

Thanks for letting a waiting family peek into your life!

Happy Mother's Day. Ryleigh and Austin look like best buds and it looks like she is changing so much each time you post pics.

OK, how much do we dislike Lisa Cook! OMG, what a self-righteous, self serving, condescending b*tch. Then Mr. Cook, can you imagine having to work for him, no matter what century, spineless, indecisive, uncaring eunuch. Neither of them knows how to team build or support anyone outside their family and even there, their methods are suspect.

I really enjoyed the series but in the end was hoping that the assessment of the Cooks was a little more scathing and I really wanted them to accept some personal responsibility, but they never will.

These historical reality shows are my favorite. I've seen so many. If you haven't seen some of them listed below, look them up and watch if you can, I know you'd enjoy them.

(PBS)
Colonial House
Frontier House
1900 House
Manor House
(A&E I think)
Outback House
(History Explorer)
Quest For The Bay
Pioneer Quest: A Year In The Real West
Klondike: The Quest For Gold
Quest for the Sea

OK, I LOVED Texas Ranch House and totally agree with you and Lisa - Mrs. Cooke was OUT OF CONTROL. It did make for great TV though!
