Lots going on....but not much blogging.

Seems like a lot of things are going on around here, we went to Gilroy Gardens yesterday and had a great day. We've gone to the tide pools for exploring, the park tons of times, swimming, shopping, and lots of geocaching. Ryleigh wants to do everything Austin does and so that makes it for a fun time. Thankfully, she has such great balance, and "body awareness" that we don't have to worry about her anywhere.

Ryleigh has added "Hi Ho Cherry-O" to her game repertoire. She is completely potty trained, and is trusted outside the house without diapers, which is really nice on one hand, but a pain in the butt on the other. The really nice part is, she looks so CUTE in her little panties. The hard part is she wants to go to EVERY restroom she sees and especially LOVES washing her hands. One thing I learned is that Target is twice as large when you have to walk back up front at a quick pace for your 2 year old to use the restroom. Ryleigh is starting to read and is going through a Dick and Jane book with my mom. It is HARD to believe that she still has THREE years until she can go to Kindergarten. We might have to look at a private school for a pre-K because she is going to be more then ready.

Austin has started Cub Scouts, and loves it. He had his first den meeting last week. Anyone want to buy some popcorn? (Girl Scouts sell cookies, Boy Scouts sell popcorn). In school, Austin also had his first spelling test and got 100%. We are very proud of him. He is in the accelerated reading program at his school and is rated at almost a year ahead. I think he actually reads closer to 3rd grade level, but part of the rating system is based on tests given after they've read the books so if they don't remember all the answers, down goes the score. It's fine for me. I was a reader, and so is he. On Friday we had a scare. I walked to the bus stop to pick him up and he didn't get off the bus. I FREAKED! I got home to a bunch of phone calls. He swears I told him I would pick him up and take him to the pool. Big misunderstanding, but it got my heart pumping!!

Ryleigh and Austin as a sibling team is growing by leaps and bounds. We've noticed that Austin is being nicer to Ryleigh, wanting her to play with him, watching out for her and being a great big brother. This has NOT been the smoothest loving relationship from the start as any parent would want. But we see progress, and no matter what, Ryleigh adores Austin.

The growing sister-brother bond makes me tear up! So sweet, and so important. Way to go Austin on being a great big brother.

And Ryleigh is starting to read?! That is amazing!!! Go baby go!!

Oh, forgot to add, I would have had a heart attack on the spot if that happened to me at the bus stop. Someone would have had to literally pick me up off the ground, I am not even kidding. Holy moly. So glad it was just a misunderstanding.

shhhh... this might be a secret - look at Target over by the pharmacy and see if there is a hidden bathroom. We almost always use that one when we go to Target ... shhh, don't tell anyone. McKaden
