Ryleigh's Nursery, NOT

That was just a teaser...this is actually a picture of Ryleigh's crib. A friend of ours is letting us have it (I'm not sure if they want it back or not). Other adoptive families that I have met on the internet always post adorable pictures of their mural painted walls, and plush pink princessy carpet.

Well, I can't really do that. We don't have "paintable" walls, they are Philippine Mahogany that our whole house is paneledin. My mother would DIE if I even suggested painting them....also, we can't do anything with Ryleigh's room until after referral. Austin will be moving to an upstairs bedroom, and I don't want that to happen until about a month before we travel.

So, this is just a teaser....

Editors Note - Ryleigh will not be sleeping in our front patio. She will have a roof over head in an adorable bedroom.

Ok, I was getting a little worried that you were taking the outdoorsy look a little too far... But then I read your last sentence. Phew. ;-)

If you need any help decorating (or shopping, my specialty), let's set up a girls' day.

I can't wait to see how the room looks! I'm with Kim... after doing "boy" things for the last 13 years... I am afraid I am over-doing the pink scheme!! LOL

Mahogany sounds very pretty, actually! Our honeymoon suite had Honduran Mahogany ceilings and it was gorgeous with the antique furniture in the room!

If you want to add a girly/baby touch, you could try making some fabric covered screens or hanging ceiling to floor curtains/drapes to completely cover a wall. The contrast of lace and/or satin with the Mahogany would be really pretty! A frilly canopy over the crib could be accomplished with several yards of sheer material, a ceiling hook and a couple of tiebacks and wouldn't do much damage to the walls.

See what happens when you watch too many episodes of "Trading Spaces"?
