Ryleigh and Austin's new Sister...

We are adding a new daughter to the family. This time, from Japan. No, no, no, we aren't adopting again. Yuriko is a student that we are hosting and she is coming all the way from Osaka, Japan to live with us for a month. Yuriko is 19 and will be 20 while she is with us.

We are very excited. I have emailed her tonight for the first time, and can't wait for a response.

I hope this experience is a good one for both of our families......

Neat!!! My folks did that when I was a kid and Masako is still part of the family 30 (cough, cough, am I that old?) years later...

Sounds great. My husband and I signed up to do the same thing, but it was right after Sept. 11th and they decided to cancel the program. I hope in the future we have the opportunity again. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Stacey,
What great things your family does. Not just for you guys but you also spread the greatness with others. You are a very special family.

I am sure you will all have a great experience! I was very lucky, that I was invited by an american family for the summer, when I was 17. It was such a great summer for me, that I decided to be an Au Pair and lived with my wonderful host family in Wisconsin for a whole year. Exchange is wonderful!

I have a good friend who did this a couple of years ago... her student also from Japan was about the same age as yours and now attends university here in the states. She now comes out to visit her "American" family twice a year and the last visit over Christmas, she had her parents fly in from Japan so we got to meet them as well!! It was such a great experience for us all!

Overall it was a wonderful experience and I wish the same for you... I hope that you all form a lasting relationship that continues on for years to come!
