Summer....

We've been having a nice summer around here.....

I've been back to work for three weeks now, and I'm really enjoying the feeling of accomplishment. Don't get me wrong, I feel like I accomplish great things with Austin and Ryleigh, but when I'm at work, I feel like I'm using a different part of my brain, and it feels good. Of course, not many women get to work at a job that allows them to be home at lunch time, to only work 4 hours a day. I'm thankful for my job....

Ryleigh is adjusting to my work schedule. Some days she is more whiney then others, and it's obvious to Mark that she misses me. She is very cute when she says "Bye Mama" and when I walk I the door she says "Hi Mama".

This morning Ryleigh enjoyed breakfast in bed with Mark:

I guess they ended up lazing around most of the morning. Mark doesn't get home from work until about 11:45 at night and then I have to leave by 7:45, he's not getting as much sleep as he's used to!

Austin is also adjusting well to me being back at work. He always is sweet and says he missed me and he's glad I'm home. We've been having some great times in the afternoons at our libraries summer reading program shows on Thursdays. It's Austin and Mommy time. Ryleigh stays home with Gramma and naps.

We had our 6 month post-placement visit this week with a new social worker who was very nice. As soon as she has the report complete, we will readopt Ryleigh in our local court to get her a California Birth Certificate. Although I know this will make her life easier, I always think it will make it easier for her to adopt from China one day if she wants too....

We've kept in touch with a couple of families from our China trip, the Vanderhoffs (from Jersey) and the Kullmans (from Chicago), we are trying to plan some sort of reunion soon!! Sooner then later as far as I'm concerned. The Kullman's daughter was Ryleigh's cribmate and we will always stay connected. Chris Vanderhoff is a woman like me, strong on the outside, mushy on the inside. We clicked almost instantly!

Ryleigh is starting to enjoy her bath. I decided I would just let her go at her pace and had Austin dump water on his head a LOT and then she started doing it. She doesn't' seem to mind her hair being washed so much anymore.

I adore Ryleigh! She is just so darn cute. I'll have a heck of a time leaving for work if my Jadyn is such a sweetheart...and I know she will be!

Oh my gosh Stacey, she is just so cute! I can't believe how much her hair has grown since I saw her at Easter! I'm coming up that way to visit Lisa in two weeks. Maybe we could get together again, since we missed you when we were camping.

My goodness, have you really had Ryleigh 6 months already?!!?!?! Seems like just yesterday I was logging on everyday to see the adventures in China.

She's getting so big. Glad to hear everyone is adjusting well to you being back at work.
