Kayaking and the Beach

This weekend we had a great time going to the beach. It is very sad in our house, we live 1 mile from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and yet, we never, not ever, go to the beach!

What happens is, one day we decide, let's go to the beach and take the kayak, and then from that day on in the summer, we go to the beach a lot more.

It is basically a guilt thing. Austin has so much fun, that I feel guilty for not taking him more!

Here are a couple pictures of Austin enjoying the pond scum water, and Austin and my mom paddling our kayak around the lagoon.

Note: The pictures were taken at the lagoon, not at the ocean beach. We live on the ocean, but at the end of a local river there is a lagoon that is only opened to the ocean during the winter months. In the summer it is allowed to close providing a great swimming area and bird habitat.

They look like they had a good time! Is that a beach on the ocean though? I'm confused.. lol!

But oh how pleasant it looked!

It's so hard to explain the lagoon to others isn't it? It was THE place to go while growing up and while we live here we NEVER go either! I did drive by a couple of weeks ago when Kristen's son came to visit me from CO and I couldn't believe it was almost to the parking lot! Wow it has changed! I am glad you are taking Austin there. Don't forget to take him out to the valley to the baseball park...down to the river..they have the BEST polywogs there! and crawdads...but you probably already know that! Kim
