03-02-06 Our last day in China!
This morning we went down for our last breakfast in the White Swan Hotel. Unfortunately, I had a rough night with my runny nose and was not feeling good at all! I just had some tea and some fruit and felt better after taking some Sudafed. Ryleigh has also had a runny nose, and I think we figured out that it might be her teeth coming in (she popped out one day before yesterday). Her nose is very sore, and we started putting Neosporin on it today.
After breakfast we went for a walk and did a little shopping to use up our last RMB (Chinese Money) saving some for lunch and dinner. We found some great 2008 Beijing Olympic squeaky toys that are great and bought some as gifts! We went with the Vanderhoff’s to Blenz (the local coffee joint, similar to Starbucks) and had a Caramel Macchiato and then went to the local children’s park. Remember earlier I said more grown ups were using the equipment? Well, today that was us. We went to town trying them all. It was a fun time as the sun was shining and the sky was blue. What a great morning to spend in China! We went to lunch at the Deli Shop by the hotel and all chipped in for a jar of peanut butter, some jelly packs a loaf of bread and an orange pound cake. What a great lunch. Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches!!
Off to nap time. Then we were to meet at 2:45 for a bus ride to the US Consulate for Ryleigh’s visa to enter the United States. While we were told that this really is no big deal, and very insignificant, when the official asked all 50something families to raise their right arms and swear that all of our information was correct, I was moved to tears. Chris Vanderhoff, Mark and I were soon singing our own rendition of “Celabration”. It was wonderful. We are now free to come back to the United States with this little snippet of a girl, who is, while very small, very mighty and brave!
We went for a last dinner with the Kullman’s and Vanderhoff’s and then a tiny bit more shopping…..we couldn’t help ourselves. We got ourselves down to about $10 in Chinese RMB. Pretty good, huh?
This is our last post from China and I just wanted to thank everyone that has been reading and leaving comments. They have meant the world to us and we have cherished every single one of them!! Thank you so much!

Stacey you have been ready to come home for over a week and the days have probably just crawled by......... But what a time you have had, none of us have been there to see and experience all that you have, but luckily for all of us we have watched and loved every minute of it and the experience can never be topped!
Thinking of you and wishing you a safe and enjoyable flight home.

Thank you so much for the wonderful adventure you have shared with us. The pictures and video are fabulous and we have enjoyed them and the account of your journey to Ryleigh so very much. You have a beautiful little daughter and she and that handsome Austin will be a great pair.
Wishing you an enjoyable trip home. It seems like such a short time since we were wishing you a good trip to China.
