Geocaching....a tutorial

Today we went geocaching again, and found three...the containers for two of them were amazing, but that made it even more difficult to find!

First, here's a look at the area surrounding a cache that we found.....see if you can find where it might be hidden. hint: it is NOT in all that poison oak that is surrounding the area!

Now, I'm going to show you where it was....

Amazing huh???

Here's a video of us opening the same cache. This will give you an idea of what it's like when you find one. A lot of times, when we have the kids with us, we only search for ones that are "regular" size or bigger. The ones we found today are "micro" and are small, and don't usually contain treasure, only a log to sign.

And here are a couple of other pictures from today....we had so much fun (except for the part when I walked right into a HUGE spiders web)!

Watching your geocaching adventures and seeing posts on my SIL's blog of their adventures, makes me want to get into the fun! I'm thinking of getting a GPS for my DH for Christmas. :)

Who exactly puts the clues there?

How fun is this! I just think you have the coolest family hobby - you get outdoors, see creation and get to spend time as a family. We still need more info - like where do you even know where to start looking? I am confused.

That looks like so much fun! And those pictures brought back all of the wonderful memories of our camping trip up your way a couple of weeks ago. God, you live in a beautiful place! I would move there in a heartbeat. (As if I could afford it. Ha!)

Pt. Lobos looks so gorgeous! I haven't been in years. Glad to see you and fam taking advantage of the beautiful nature offerings of the Peninsula....do I sound a little nostalgic?

Whew...finally made it back to your blog. We mistakenly found a geocache in Garland Park while we were looking for a letterbox (www.letterboxing.org). We found it a year ago and we just went back to it again. The kids now call it "hiking to the treasure box". You'll have to let us know what GPS you use and how much it costs so we can continue and maybe set our own in Garland!!
