Milestones...

Wow, it's been a while (well not that long) since I posted, so I thought I would try to put into words a few milestones around here. First, an update on the bus riding. Austin loves it. On Friday he got off the bus and quickly told me he sat next to a "mean boy" who punched him in the back and poked his neck. The mother bear in me came out, but I calmly got the whole story from him. I guess the kid (Austin didn't know his name) was messing with him, and when the driver told them to quiet down, Austin listened and the boy stopped. Mark and I did a little role playing with Austin about what to do in case that happened. Monday morning comes, a phone call to the head office. Tuesday I had a friend intervene and get the boys to shake hands at school (this was GREAT because she was a neutral). Austin introduced the boy to my friend: "Bully meet Michelle, Michelle, meet bully". She said she was actually able to keep a straight face as she talked to them about being friends, and not messing around on the bus.

Also this week, Austin joined Cub Scouts. He's a Tiger Cub, and he was very excited to get his uniform. One of the things that I loved about my childhood was our involvement in scouting. Living in a small town means Austin's Den is very small, but I think they will have a lot of fun this year.

On to Ryleigh. She is knee deep in pre-school and LOVES it! All she talks about when not in school is her backpack and her teacher, Veronica. Today was a huge step for her, she wore her panties to school all day (well, it's 3 hours). I sent 3 changes of clothes, but she was completely successful and was dry. I was surprised, but also not! She has been wearing panties around the house non-stop for months, but I haven't trusted her enough outside the house. Well, I think she's doing great and she does too!

Here's a funny picture from a recent shopping trip. The kids looked cute so I whipped out the camera, but I think it's funny because of the background....

Oh, and meet the newest additions to our family. We decided to get a small fish tank for the kids, which I think they will enjoy. My friend Julie's daughter says that fish tanks are good for kids because it teaches about death. HA No, you aren't missing the fish, we haven't gotten any yet, but this is their home waiting for them!

Love the update -- sounds like things are busy (as usual) around your house. Congrats on being a totally diaper-free house (wow!!! can hardly imagine what that's like).
