02-28, The last day in February....cold...

02-28-06 Tuesday

Today we are going to the zoo. Everyone has been very excited about this trip, to get out and walk around. One problem. It is RAINING!!!! We got to the zoo, and it wasn’t raining, get out of the bus, and it was freezing cold! We started walking around and it ended up poring. A few families went back to the bus to wait for everyone else. It wasn’t worth sitting outside in the cold rain to get our daughters sick. We had fun on the bus, making a big cracker mess!!

After that, we spent a lot of time in the hotel. I have started getting a cold and ended up falling asleep for a THREE hour nap. I NEVER nap. Mark is the napper. The reason I don’t nap is because if I do, I’m dead for the rest of the day….but, we had plans with 3 other couples for dinner. During nap, Mark took Ryleigh around the grounds of the hotel and to the playroom. There are pictures of the statues in the lobby (all for sale) and the pool and Pearl River. The river is GROSS and we see people swimming in it for exercise. They are CRAZY!

So after nap, and some fun in the playroom downstairs (which I’m sure is where I caught this cold and is probably the biggest germ area in the hotel) we went to dinner. We had been recommended a good Thai restaurant “near the tennis courts”. Well, we found it and it while the food ended up being great, the menu was crazy. Goose brains, Frog paw soup, Swan tongue, crazy crazy things. We each ordered a couple things that seemed safe (only beef or chicken for us) and it all turned out great. We later found out that we didn’t walk far enough, that we went to the wrong place. Woops!!

We had another party in the hallway, and Ryleigh ended up passing out in Marks arms. She is a great girl, but we can’t wait to get home to Austin and Gramma and all of our friends!!!

Goose brains, frog paw soup, and swan tongue! Oooooh. I've never met a frog with a paw and I've had frog legs once. Maybe I could handle that one.

I've really enjoyed following your China trip. Hopefully my DH and I will be doing it in August or September!
