Day 2 and 3 Travel ARGH!!
02/16-17/06
Last you heard from us we were in the lounge at the San Francisco Airport….now we are sitting in the Regal Airport Hotel in Hong Kong. The flight from San Francisco to Tokyo was AMAZING!! Business class (especially when free from frequent flier miles) is the ONLY way to go. Mark and I definitely felt pampered completely. Our dinner was amazing, Filet Mignon, lots of little Japanese snacks that we weren’t sure of but tasted yummy. I was able to lie down and sleep for an hour or so, and Mark took in 3 (almost 4) movies while we were on board. I watched a couple movies and played solitaire on the game system. JAL is a wonderful airline and we have no complaints.
On an interesting note, near the end of the flight into Tokyo I was standing at the back of our section talking to one of the flight attendants and she was telling me how she has a relative that lives in Guangdong and she has 3 children of her own, 2 of them have been hidden since birth so that they could keep them. She said they live in very rural area, and so it hasn’t been a problem. Imagine the worry, everyday they must have if a stranger comes around.
I’d like to say that the flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong was as smooth, it was constantly bumpy, not big bumps, but enough to be annoying. I slept most of the way, and Mark watched another movie and got more sleep. By the time we got off the plane, we were nauseaus exhausted, hot, sweaty and ready to go to sleep somewhere.
We spent the night in the Regal Airport Hotel and it is nice. The beds are said to be hard here, and so I was expecting that, but it’s no different then camping, I guess. We’re going back into the airport in about a ½ hour to meet up with our Hong Kong guide, Joann and some arriving travel group members, and then we have a free day.
We've just checked into the Regal Kowloon and were able to talk to Austin for about 15 minutes. Mom, thanks so much for taking such great care of our sick boy!!!

Oh my goodness Stacey...it is so awesome that you are so close now. It sounds as if the trip was mostly a pleasure. What a sad story about the family with the 3 children :(
Have fun in Hong Kong and I look forward to your next post!

Good luck; hope all continues to go well for you. Soon it will be "gotcha day"! We will be reading!
Thank goodness that looonnnnggg flight is out of the way. Good to hear you arrived safely.
I'm with you on the Business Class ...for a flight that long, it is the ONLY way to go! Unless of course, you go 1st class. :) JAL sounds nicer than China Southern.
Now ...on to Gotcha! (How exciting!)
