Friday, February 24, One week to go!

02-24-06 Friday

Today our group was scheduled for the medical exams that are necessary to obtain a Visa for Ryleigh to enter the United States and become a citizen. First, we all went to a photo shop right across the street from the hotel and had pictures taken for the Visa. It was hysterical!! Ryleigh did great, and was talking up a storm when we were waiting for them to be developed. That’s when we got that great video that we posted!

After the photo’s we walked about 5 minutes away to the Physical exam building. This is where everyone comes for the doctor, but there is a special room for families that are adopting and need the medical exam. There were three stations: height/weight, ear, nose and throat, and medical/surgical. We just had to complete all three in no particular order. We did the medical/surgical first, Ryeligh did NOT like being examined and cried more at the exams then she ever has with us (thankfully). I was able to easily calm her after each station was done. The only thing that they commented to us was about her Mongolian spots and she asked if we knew about them, which we did. Some of the babies were squeezed and told they were fat, one of the families got in trouble because their babie’s socks were too tight. All in all the medical exam is not something to worry about, unless you are the baby!!! Most of the babies didn’t cry, but ours sure did!

Ryleigh weights 18 pounds even, and is 29.5 inches long. She is tall and lanky and skinny!

The rest of the afternoon we had to ourselves. Ryleigh and Mark took a nap and I went out to shop…needless to say I didn’t buy anything, I get so annoyed!! I just want to “browse”, but no one will let you.

We went out to dinner with the Vanderhoff’s again. We are really enjoying their company at a Thai restaurant called The Cow and Bridge. It was AMAZING!! So delicious! And so darn inexpensive!! After that we just went for a walk around, and then came back to the hotel.

Ryleigh had a playdate in our room with Phoebe Kullman, and Mark, Wayne and Craig went up to the roof to hit some golf balls.

Ryleigh is the funniest right before bed, she is really fighting going to sleep now and it is LATE for her. She keeps sitting up in her crib, and that’s a first, she was just laying there and going right to sleep, not tonight. I think we did too much!!

She is very silly, though and we love her VERY much.
