We got home from the movies around 1:30 and loaded up the car. I told Austin we were going to put him down for a nap, and he said “are you leaving then?” and said “I don’t want you to go”…..it was hard to hold back the tears at that point.
I put him down upstairs for a rest (no nap anymore, just an hour of rest for our big boy) and said goodbye to my mom. As we were leaving Austin was yelling out the window “Goodbye – I love you, I love you, I love you” and as we were getting ready to close the door, he said “Oh, one more thing……Let the Force be with you”….I love that little boy so much, and miss him already so much!!
We drove to San Francisco, which was completely uneventful and checked in at the Embassy Suites, the room was nice and large (more on the room later). We went out to dinner at a restaurant that shall remain nameless and had the FUNNIEST waiter named Jason. He was so LOUD, now I am loud, but this guy was LOUD! Everyone around us knew that his favorite was the Caesar Salad, that he loved the crab stuffed Mushrooms…it was a crack up, but a great dinner.
So we watched the Olympics (GO USA and China!) and hit the sack at about 10pm. Now I know that I should have taken an Ambian or something because I NEVER sleep well the first night traveling and I was nervous, etc… around 10:20, 10:30, 11:00pm, etc I was opening my eyes, thinking it was morning, then I realized that there was this really high pitched squeal and it started to drive me INSANE! I woke Mark up to ask if he heard it too, and he told me to put Kleenex in my ear, I ended up on the couch because I figured out it was smoke detector. I thought I was going to go CRAZY with that sound, I think I got about 2 hours of sleep the whole night.
We met some other folks on the shuttle to the airport that were going to China for a visit, and we passed Ryleigh’s picture around the shuttle. I even made a lady from Eureka cry!
We are now sitting in the Sakura Lounge at the San Francisco airport and have about an hour and a half until we get on our flight!!
Thanks for following along and we’ll keep you better posted as soon as we get some internet access in a hotel room!

Here I am making sure I remain connected to all the great people that are following our journey!
